#81: Heavenly Blue

Commentary:
I began painting this at the request of a client who wanted something similar to another of my paintings. It turned out very different. I particularly enjoyed trying to capture movement in the dark night sky and the cold, quiet feel of the snow at night. The subject of the painting is a spot at the top of Tahoe Donner, between the alpine and nordic ski areas. When you snowshoe in the area at night, you'll sometimes come across a snowcat grooming the nordic trails, its bright lights and cacophony
